Tom Green County courthouse was built in 1928 in Classical Revival
style and ran a cost of $200,000.00 to build.

The
original county seat was the town of Ben Ficklin. In 1882 flood
waters overcame the town, resulting in the county seat
moving to San Angela, whose name was changed to San
Angelo. |

Angelo is the largest processing and shipping center for the wool
and mohair industry in the United States. |

principal river in the county is the Concho, which is formed by
the convergence of the North, Middle, and South Concho rivers.
