The
Scurry County courthouse was built in 1911 in Texas Renaissance
style, however remodeling in 1972 encompassed the old building with
granite, thus it now takes on a more Contemporary look.

The
county extends across 904 square miles of prairie covered by
bluestems, gramas, wildrye, and wheatgrasses, with mesquite trees
in some sections. |
Scurry County is drained by the Colorado River, which cuts across
the southwestern corner of the county, and by tributaries of the
Clear Fork of the Brazos River. |

Snyder hosts the Scurry County Fair each September and White
Buffalo Day in October.
